‘Culinary Canopy’

In episode four, Chris Walsh, from Wicklow, is designing a garden for Brazilian couple Aline and Marcelo. As Marcelo is a chef, Chris hopes to create a ‘culinary canopy’ design with a grill at it's centre. Planting is key to Chris’s garden as he plans to try and attract wildlife to the garden, bringing in his love for the environment.

Meet Chris

Chris, aged 32, has a passion for the environment and transforming black spaces. He set up his own landscaping business Birch & Fern. As a new business owner, the opportunity for Chris to go to Bord Bia Bloom would be the pinnacle for him as a designer and landscaper.

Recreate the Look

Chris used Anthracite Grey colour in Satin finish for the fence, and masonry finish for the brick work, to create this dramatic and modern look. We've noticed an increasing trend of using deeper colors on garden walls and fences, which beautifully enhances the vibrant colours of the plants and flowers.
